How to Measure Time
In the Holy Lands RPG system, you will notice the terms game time and real time. These two terms may identify the same unit of time, such as an hour, minute, or day, but the rules view it from different perspectives. Game time refers to the time your character is experiencing from his or her perspective, where Real time refers to the time we, as players, are experiencing in real life. An hour of real time is a real hour on the clock in your room, one that cannot be reversed, but an hour in game time can take anywhere from five seconds to five hours of real time to play, and the Rac may decide at any time to “rewind” the whole hour and start over! You can measure Game time in hours, minutes, and days, but most of the game is measured in Rounds, which are blocks of 12 consecutive seconds that can make game events easier to manage. These smaller units of time are used for many events that occur throughout adventures, including Combat situations, Miracle durations, character Movement, and Skill-based Difficulty requirements. |
